The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 64 mol%. Chemotaxonomic data (Q-8 as the predominant ubiquinone, and iso-C16 : 0, iso-C15 : 0, C17 : 0 cyclo, iso-C17 : 1w9c, iso-C17 : 0 and iso-C11 : 0 as the major fatty acids) also supported the affiliation of strain MO64T with the genus Rhodanobacter. Strain MO64T was most closely related to Rhodanobacter ginsengisoli (98.0%), Rhodanobacter spathiphylli (97.9%), Rhodanobacter panaciterrae (97.7%), Rhodanobacter terrae (97.6%), Rhodanobacter soli (97.3%), Rhodanobacter caeni (97.2%) and the phylogenetic similarities to all other validly published Rhodanobacter species were less than 97.0%.
Phylogenetic analysis, based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, showed that strain MO64T belonged to the genus Rhodanobacter. The strain was found to comprise Gram-negative, motile, non-spore-forming rods that produced yellow-pigmented colonies on R2A agar.
